### Improper Fractions

Recommended for grades 5 to 8

In this game, your child will learn and practice converting between improper fractions and mixed numbers.

Your child will learn and practice the steps to convert from a mixed number to an improper fraction:

1. Multiply the denominator to the whole number part .

2. Add the numerator.

3. This number will be the new numerator over the existing denominator. This is your final answer.

Your child will learn and practice the pattern to convert from an improper fraction to a mixed number:

1. Divide the numerator by the denominator.

This long division will produce the whole number part of the final answer.

2. Any remainder resulting from this long division will be written as a numerator over the denominator that was in the original improper fraction.
