What is Clever Dragons?
Clever Dragons is an educational and entertaining website exclusively for boys from kindergarten through eighth grade. On Clever Dragons boys can access interactive learning materials, play age-appropriate games, and view specifically selected videos. If parent enable the community features, boys also can communicate with their friends. By completing the learning materials and videos users can earn Gold Coins - the virtual currency on Clever Dragons. This currency can then be used to play games or access other fun content. Together with www.always-icecream.com, its "sister site" for girls, Clever Dragons is the first website that combines all these aspects of online usage in an educational and safe format.

How does Clever Dragons work?
Clever Dragons is for registered members only. Membership requires a modest monthly or annual membership fee or the one-time purchase of a lifetime membership. Contributions are manually reviewed before they are made visible to other members.

Who is using Clever Dragons?
Clever Dragons has been developed specifically for boys from kindergarten through 8th grade. Adults are not permitted on the platform. The only exception are the boys' parents or guardians. Girls are welcome to use the "sister site" of Clever Dragons: Always Icecream. Yes, there are plenty of dragons on Always Icecream, too!

Why did you build Clever Dragons?
Dr. Johannes Ziegler, the founder and CEO of Clever Dragons, has three young daughters and two sons of his own. Together with his wife Swenja, he came up with the idea for Clever Dragons (and Always Icecream, the girls' version) when he was looking for an appropriate website for them.

What is the educational philosophy behind Clever Dragons?
The core idea behind Clever Dragons is that children learn more when they are motivated and in a positive mood. Therefore, Clever Dragons packages drills in academic core subjects in the format of fun games. Rewards are given at all levels, including recognition of creative artwork by their peers.

How about topics that are controversial among parents, such as evolution?
At Clever Dragons we try be welcoming towards members from all worldviews and religions, as long as the opinions expressed are not threatening to other members. We exclude content, such as evolution and the origin of life, that is contentious in some communities. There are plenty of educational subjects that are taught and appreciated by parents and teachers of any world view. These are the subjects that boys can practice on Clever Dragons.

Is my son safe on Clever Dragons?
User safety is our most important concern. Clever Dragons is using a wide range of methods and processes to ensure user safety and privacy. In particular the site's content is continuously scanned, both manually and software-based, for inappropriate content. Users can also report any concerns or problems they encounter to Clever Dragons staff. Furthermore, self-policing mechanisms are in place to encourage proper behavior and etiquette. Lastly, parents receive regular email reports about the activities and learning progress of their sons.

How much does it cost?
Clever Dragons is free of advertising. We never sell or rent any user data. The membership fee is $5.95 per month with a monthly subscription or $3.95 per month with an annual membership. We also offer a two-month and a lifetime membership. Through these fees we can keep Clever Dragons free of advertisements and continue to develop the site. In addition to constantly adding new features to the site, we use the funds we receive to develop one new educational game for our members every week. Your parent account is free of charge.

I have two sons. Do I need two accounts for them?
On Clever Dragons every boy should have his own account and yes, this means you'll need to purchase two separate accounts (but you only need one parent account for all your sons). This way every boy can create his own artwork, track his own learning progress, raise and care for his own pets and earn and spend his own Gold Coins.
